Project of Doom Bookcase Feet Challenge!

Over on The Project of Doom Facebook Group, I issued a challenge to create feet for our Harry Potter Bookcase Quilt, The Project of Doom. Bookcase feet are regularly requested and this seemed like the perfect way to have fun with feet!

Thank you to everyone who contributed!

And now...the patterns! You will find all of these near the bottom of the PoD Pattern Archive with the other blocks for top, bottom, & sides of your quilt.

Participation Rules

• Design an original quilt pattern inspired by Star Wars and share it with fandominstitches.com!
• Pattern can be any size.
• Design a single block or an entire quilt.
• Patterns can be designed using any of the following techniques: paper piecing, traditional piecing, mosaic, applique, reverse applique, hand embroidery or cross-stitch (more details on how to design for FiS here).

Millenium Falcon by Jennifer Ofenstein Patterns must be completely original and created by the submitting designer. Designs may not use any part of a another designer's pattern, including, but not limited to, those designs shared on fandominstitches.com.

• Patterns must be new to fandominstitches.com, but not necessarily brand new. If you already have an awesome Star Wars-themed pattern we have not featured on our website, feel free to submit it!
• Patterns should be PG-13 or less.

• Please check our Star Wars patterns and Google "Star Wars Quilt, quilt pattern, quilt block, etc." BEFORE designing your pattern to ensure you're not accidentally recreating someone else's work.
• Designs based on other, non-quilt artwork art (including fan art) must include written permission from the artist. Alterations of other, original pattern designs will not be included on fandominstitches.com.
• Please note that all fandominstitches.com patterns are free for personal & non-profit use. All designers are volunteers. Patterns are considered derivate art which we do not sell or compensate for

• Submit your pattern using our submission form no later than Friday, March 18, 2016 at Noon CST (U.S.). 
• PDF patterns can be hand drawn or created using graphic design software as long as they are clear and easy to follow. For helpful information, including software suggestions, see Be A Designer.
• Please include your name (online or real), pattern finished size, your blog, social media, contact information and/or anything else you feel is pertinent to your pattern.

• Only patterns following these rules will be considered for posting on FiS*.

Make It Mosaic!

Welcome to Make It Mosaic, a Design Invitational & Quilt Block Challenge here on Fandom In Stitches!

We had a lot of initial interest in this challenge, but not a lot of entries. Because of that, we will be awarding TWO prizes today, one each to Kerry and Alida for participating! I don't award prizes to myself, even though I usually participate. ;-)

Design Challenge: Make it Mosaic!

Welcome to Make It Mosaic, a brand new Design Invitational & Quilt Block Challenge right here on Fandom In Stitches!

We have a fun challenge and a great prize to share with you today and we hope you'll take this opportunity to jump in and join us as a Fandom In Stitches Designer!

The Rules:

• Design an original quilt block using a pixel grid (mosaic) format. (There's some nifty software that can get you started here and a FREE class on Craftsy here).
• Please note: designs must be your original creation and not based on the work of another artist or taken from another website. Edited to add: "original" means we are asking you to not use a chart or grid pattern already created by someone else for craft or quilt purposes.
• Blocks can be as simple or complicated as you like and made using any size grid, but you MUST make a sample out of fabric.
• Designs can be images, words, etc. from the fandom of your choice, keeping in mind that all Fandom In Stitches patterns are PG-13.
• Patterns can be drafted using drawing or quilting software or hand drawn, as long as they are clean and easy to understand. (More info)
• All patterns should include a full color grid (example) AND number of squares to cut out of each color fabric (i.e. red = 28, white = 76, etc.). Since these types of blocks are all generally pieced the same way, additional piecing instructions are optional.
• A photo of your completed block AND your pattern file are required to enter.
• Patterns should be in PDF format (preferred for easier printing).
• How To Enter:
• Post your photo to the Fandom In Stitches flickr group by Tuesday, November 11, 2014, 11:59 pm CST (US).   DEADLINE EXTENDED TO 9AM CST November 12, 2014!
• Tag your photo #makeitmosaic and include the link to your pattern OR Email us your pattern file so we can share it here on FiS.
• Please do not submit photos or patterns via comments or Facebook.
• On Wednesday, November 12, 2014, we will post all of your fabulous designs right here on Fandom In Stitches! 
• Visitors will be able to vote anonymously on his or her favorite and the winner will be announced Wednesday, November 25, 2014.
• One lucky participating designer for Make it Mosaic will receive a Fandom In Stitches coffee mug!

As You Wish Design Invitational - One More Week!

It's just one more week until the As You Wish Design Invitational! Patterns will post May 7, so get yours in now!

• Design an original Princess Bride-themed quilt block pattern using any technique to supplement the As You Wish designs (all designs are now online). 

• Patterns must be 5" (5 1/2" unfinished). We've built extra spaces in both quilt layouts just for the Design Invitational patterns (see images below this week's AYW patterns).

• Test your pattern and take a photo. Only tested patterns will be included on FiS.

• Post the photo of your design and a link to your PDF pattern* in our flickr group no later than Tuesday, May 6, 2014. (*If you don't have your own blog or website, not to worry, just email your pattern to ofenjen@fandominstitches.com and we'll post it for you!)

• PDF patterns can be hand drawn or created using graphic design software. For more information see Be A Designer.

• Tag your flickr photo "AYW DESIGN" so we know to include it. (Use the quotes as shown so that both words will be included in the same tag.)

• On Wednesday, May 7, 2014, all Design Invitational patterns will be posted right here on Fandom In Stitches to share with our quilting community.

• Submitted designs will be included in special drawing for an XXL Miracle Max t-shirt (design shown below!)
