It has been brought to our attention that a vendor at the Calgary Expo last weekend was selling Fandom In Stitches patterns.
These pilfered patterns had identifying marks removed that would have indicated they were free patterns from our website and our designers.
Fortunately for us, members of our quilting community are everywhere. A diligent fan reported the theft to the expo and we are currently following up on that report.
We'd like to give a Big Thanks to the Calgary Expo for looking into this issue.

If you come across a person, vendor or website selling Fandom In Stitches patterns, please report it. We have had more than one occasion to have a website shut down that was selling our patterns and we will not hesitate to pursue reports of theft.
We are a community committed to sharing awesome quilts and not to squeezing money out of fellow fans.
If you are reading this and you are the person that committed this act of theft against our generous Designers and our quilting community: Don't be a jerk. These patterns are free for all of fandom. They are not for you to steal and sell for profit.

Fandom In Stitches and it's designers do not hold copyright on any of the fandom titles represented on this site. Respective Designers reserve copyright on patterns only and request that out of respect for the fandoms we love, that you use them for personal and non-profit reasons only. ReplyDeleteSo sorry about dishonest people. When I show what I've made, using Fandom pattern, I try to include a link back to Fandom, so that others can make it themselves. I do this with patterns I've purchased, too. Honesty is the best policy in all things.
ReplyDeleteI've known too many people that figure that once the pattern is in their possession that they can use it any way they want! If they want to put it on a quilt and sell it, they should be able to do so. If they want to then sell it, they should be able to do so. I'm with the designers and Fandom Stitches though. They have never spent THEIR time designing something, digitizing, drawing, using whatever program whether it is computerized quilting program, embroidery program, cross stitch, needle point, crochet, knitting, other needle work and fiber arts, photo type program to get all the graphics and text correct for your instructions, and etc. They haven't had to get testers to test the product in one or more formats possibly one or more times, made edits to the process and start again testing, and possibly do it again. They have no clue what is truly involved in the process of making patterns/designs. As a former embroidery tester and an embroidery digitizer, I for one, am so thankful for all the hard work you all do and generously give. And I will always be willing to test for anyone--although I still consider myself a beginner paper piecer (my family doesn't, but I do), I am always available to test if someone needs something tested. It's only fair that as much as I appreciate what YOU give that I can GIVE back some of my time to you to test.
