Besides this being incredibly uncool, it is also fraudulent behavior.
Almost all FiS patterns are Copyright or Creative Commons, per each Designer's policy.
Fandom In Stitches wholeheartedly supports independent fandom designers, and we would, in fact, not exist without them. Our Designers spend hours, days and sometimes weeks tweaking and perfecting their designs before sharing them with the FiS community, all for free.
Fandom In Stitches only posts patterns with Designer permission and we do not now, nor will we ever post patterns based on an existing designed without the express permission of the original designer.
Designers, if your work has been reposted without permission, then I have already contacted you. If you suspect that your work has been fraudulently copied and reposted, please contact FiS Admin as soon as possible.
Thank you to those diligent Fandom In Stitches readers that let us know of this unfortunate happening. We have no intention of acknowledging the person or persons responsible here on FiS. We have no desire to create more of a stir, but we do want our fans to be aware of the situation.

Sorry this has happened. Wonderful designs on FiS. I'm looking forward to when I have time to finish learning how to paper piece so that I can benefit from these wonderful peoples designs.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe someone would do that.
ReplyDeleteI mean I often change other designers patterns when sewing them myself (If I think I can simplify the pattern without changing the actual layout) but I would never share the changed pattern or claim them as my own. It's just rude to fellow designers.
I couldn't have said it better, exactly what I was thinking!

Well said, Jennifer. Thank you for protecting the integrity of this site and of your designers.

What the...? Just SO wrong... wrong... WRONG. I hope their karma catches up with them soon.
ReplyDeleteUncool.
ReplyDeleteYou know what they say 'if you can't create for yourself, steal the hard work of others'. Oh wait, they don't say that!! That would just be rude!
