What's a fandom, you ask? As defined by Wikipedia:
Fandom (from the noun fan and the affix -dom, as in kingdom, freedom, etc.) is a term used to refer to a subculture composed of fans characterized by a feeling of sympathy and camaraderie with others who share a common interest. Fans typically are interested in even minor details of the object(s) of their fandom and spend a significant portion of their time and energy involved with their interest, often as a part of a social network with particular practices (a fandom); this is what differentiates "fannish" (fandom-affiliated) fans from those with only a casual interest. The FiS designers regularly share free patterns and goodies with you, including fun sponsored prizes in our Block of the Month drawing.

Hmm... not sure how to comment non anonymously but also not putting my E-mail address in public.
ReplyDeleteAnyway.. Thanks to all the FiS designers for all the patterns! I get to do all this for just the price of fabric and don't have to buy tons of books.
Yay for blog hopping :)
ReplyDeleteLove this post.
(not entering the giveaway just wanted to let you know that Cat's pic leads to the pattern not the vamp/wolf site)
I love the Harry Potter paper piecing patterns. I made the phoenix, Fawks, just the other day, and made it into a card for my daughter. I'll put it up on my blog later today... I just can't seem to make the Flickr work. We have been having troubles with our new computer. Dah!
ReplyDelete(I have looked in on some of the other fandom patterns, and copied off the red car, and Mater... but my grandson is too old now, and these patterns will have to go onto Linus quilts.
I also love the lips and teeth from the Vampire fandom. I don't know what I could use that for, but I'll think of something.
What happened to the giraffe? I loved that pattern - it turned out great when I made it as a card for my daughter who loves giraffes. She loved it, too.
Well, I'd best get back to the piecing. I'm working on another phoenix. I keep using them for "get well" cards, so I don't have one for my collection... that may be a quilt someday.
Hugs
I have been following this blog almost from the beginning. I rarely (if ever) comment. I enjoy seeing all the different patterns. I am collecting various ones (grease) for a quilt to make someday. Thank you for all the hard work you do!
ReplyDeleteI just recently found your blog and all of the wonderful free patterns you provide. I look forward to using some of them in the future. Thanks for the opportunity to enter your great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteGreat blog! I am presently joining in on the There and Back Again BOM and am starting the Harry Potter bookcase BOM that was earlier this year at Sewhooked. I have decreased my patterns to make an 8" block. Hopefully I'll be hanging it in my sewing studio. Love ALL the patterns and look forward to many more. Thanks for all your inspiring work and the giveaway!

ReplyDeleteThis website is made of absolute and total LOVE! I learned paper-piecing here, and the TABABOM challenge is leading towards bigger and better things in the realm of quilting. Cheers to all of you that make this little niche in the WWW a reality! :)

ReplyDeleteI found my way to this website when I was working on a Harry Potter Charity quilt -- all the blocks were donated by the recipient's friends. Someone mentioned this quilt blog on a blog for a friend I met during the HP quilt project, and I found my way here.

You guys rock! I am loving TABABOTM, and have considered Project of Doom (not sure if I'm up for it though LOL). Thanks for what you bring to quilters!
ReplyDeleteI love looking at the blocks on this site!
ReplyDeleteAlthough I'm stilling waiting for someone to show up with some paper-pieced Wonder Woman logos (I love Bats and Supes, but Wondy is my girl!), or a paper-pieced Serenity logo.
I mean, someone did the Qileute tattoo from Twilight...it's totally probable that someone's done a paper-pieced Serenity logo!
I just can't find it anywhere...
