Star Trek Row Along - Row 6


And here we are! It's the final official post of our Star Trek Row Along right here on Fandom in Stitches!(#startrekalong on social media)


I'd like to take a moment to thank all of the amazing designers and pattern testers who stepped up and made this awesome quilt along happen! This was multiple years in the making with a great big final push for designs and tested patterns at the end of 2018. Thank you, thank you to both designers and testers! ♥

More About this Event:

  • The Star Trek Row Along was designed by: Chris & Mary Clayton, Tammy Keefer, Jessica Lee Blacknall, Holly Urbain, Vanda Chittenden, & Jennifer Ofenstein. The event is hosted on Fandom in Stitches by Jennifer Ofenstein of sewhooked.com & fandominstitches.com. Every pattern has been tested for accuracy. Pattern testers are listed with their row photos.
  • Each designer participating in Star Trek Row Along has their own unique pattern style and each month's pattern is presented as the designer intended.
  • Each Star Trek Row Alonpost contains all patterns needed for a single show's row, quilt finishing information, fabric amounts, and information for the Design Invitational. 
  • Rows will be posted every other week: 1/16/2019, 1/30/2019, 2/13/2019, 2/27/2019, 3/13/2019, 3/27/2019. Design Invitational 4/3/2019
  • Rows are 10" x 58" (10 1/2" x 58 1/2") and are paper pieced.  
  • Each row requires up to 1 yard of background fabric. Other fabric amounts are included wherever possible in individual documents. Please note that all fabric amounts are estimates and are provided as a courtesy. Actual amounts may vary depending on your paper piecing technique.
  • The two finished quilt options as shown are 74" x 84" not including binding. Fabric amounts needed for each quilt finishing options are included in the finishing document & in the To Boldly Go Pattern. More about those below.
  • Patterns are rated 1 out of 5 by difficulty (1 being the simplest, 5 being the most complex).
  • Want to design a pattern for this quilt? Look for the Design Invitational information below!

Quilt Pattern Design Invitational
Participation Rules

ALL DESIGNS DUE FRIDAY, MARCH 29, NOON CST!

Please read ALL RULES carefully before submitting patterns.
  • Design an original pattern inspired by STAR TREK to share with the fandominstitches.com quilting community.
  • Quilt Patterns must be original and created by the submitting designer. Designs may not use any part of a another designer's pattern, including, but not limited to, those designs shared on fandominstitches.com. See our other Star Trek patterns here.
  • Designs based on other, non-quilt artwork art (including fan art) must include written permission from the artist. 
  • Patterns can be any piecing technique (paper pieced, hand embroidered, applique, etc.).
  • Patterns should 6" finished (6 1/2" with seam allowance). These are intended to be optional blocks for the border of our Row Along quilt. All other sizes will be held for posting until after the Invitational.
  • Patterns must be free to access and stay that way. All FiS patterns are free for personal & non-profit use only to comply with copyright and intellectual property laws.
  • Make your pattern and take a photo. Only tested patterns with photos of the design in fabric will be included on fandominstitches.com.
  • Patterns should include your name (online or real), pattern finished size (6"), your blog, social media, contact information and/or anything else you feel is pertinent to your pattern.
  • Patterns should include the following text, "Designed for the #startrekalong Design Invitational on fandominstitches.com."
  • Submit your pattern using our submission form no later than Friday, March 29, 2019 at Noon CST (U.S.).
  • PDF patterns can be hand drawn or created using graphic design software as long as they are clear and easy to follow. For helpful information, including software suggestions, see Be A Fandom in Stitches Designer.
  • Google Drive is a great way to share pattern files (it's free to use for anyone with a Gmail account and files can be updated as needed). Patterns can also be emailed to ofenjen@fandominstitches.com and they will be hosted by Fandom In StitchesPattern submissions will not be accepted via Facebook or other social media.
  • On Wednesday, April 3, 2019, all Star Trek Design Invitational patterns will be posted right here on Fandom In Stitches to share with our quilting community!
ONLY patterns following these rules will be considered for posting on FiS.

Signature block.

If you have been sewing along on any of the Quilt Along events, you will have seen that some of the designers releasing a signature block during the event.

What is a signature block?
It is a block, that you can sew and embroider with your details on it. You can use this as your quilt label and you can send this block to the designer, who collects all of these blocks from all over the world to make into a memory quilt for themselves.

Do I have to make one?
Absolutely not. This is a special request, and is not compulsory at all. We would love to get one though, it makes such a nice memory to add into a quilt.

What do I do?
Download the pattern. Sew it up. And embroider / stencil your name, where you are from and the #FBQAL2 somewhere on the block and send it off to the address that is printed on the pattern. Easy peazy.

The embroidery has only been designed for the 10 inch block.



Inside the Magical office building of Macusa, they have this wonderful clock, that shows any threat to the wizarding world. Including the number of exposures, obliviations and witch hunts.

 NB! You do not need to make this block for layout 2.

Muggle Worthy Embroidery block
Embroidery pattern for the lock.
Fits the yellow tab in the lock pattern.

Newt's suitcase has this amazing lock, when you turn the key to Muggle worthy, they will only see a set of clothes and everything you need to travel. Turn the lock the other way, you can go down into the suitcase and look after all of your magical creatures.

 NB! If you are making layout 2, you need to make 5 inch blocks.
