Stories from the Fandom in Stitches Community: Lynn H.

I talk about your website SO much that I am afraid it will get inundated with hits and will shut down!

Broadway Patterns

I have made 9 quilts with your blocks/patterns and 7 or 8 pillows.  I taught myself FPP from a different pattern (mariners compass) and then stumbled across your website and really cut my teeth!  The patterns were so FUN!  So I played around with a block from Broadway (Fiddler on the Roof, I believe, was the first one).  And since that was so super fun, I decided to do another one.  When I had 4 blocks, I thought to myself, "well, now what am I going to do with all these Broadway blocks?".

I work in a school and our High School Theater Director is amazing and gives so much to the students and to the school that I decided to make the full Broadway quilt for him!  I shared the website with him and asked him to select his favorite shows.  When I messed up the Cats block and re-made it, I decided to fix the "bad" block and turned it into a pillow.  Then I made 5 more pillows for his office and the Comedy/Tragedy Masks for the Theater entrance way (I modified the pattern by splitting the pattern to make 2 separate pillows.)

The majority of my quilts I make from my heart for my family and friends.  And the majority of those come from your amazing website and your exceptionally talented artists!

My love of fandominstitches continued by making the Delorean for one son, the Pokemon for another son, the Nittany Lion/Penn State* went to my sons best friend, and the Lord of the Rings blocks are in process and those may go to Stephen Colbert .... I hear he is a huge fan of LOTR.

The Slytherin was for my DIL's sister, I made one Batman for my sons roommate and one Batman for my very dear friend.

I kept the Calvin and Hobbes for myself.

The Harry Potter crest I will finish up as a scrappy quilt and probably gift to my son’s girlfriend.

I post my quilts on my facebook page and on reddit.  I use the #quiltswithfeet usually.
