In just few days, we will be able to watch the long-awaited movie, The Dark Tower...
In just few weeks, we will be able to celebrate the 70th birthday of our master storyteller Stephen King!!!
To honor these events, please join me every Wednesday in August in a Quilt&Stitch Along. This is the first installment of our Quilt&Stitch Along "Long live the King, Stephen", an event to celebrate the 70th birthday of our master storyteller Stephen King!!!
I have been in the process of designing and stitching an extensive collection of embroidery, paper piecing and applique patterns to create a quilt that contains the opening line and the book cover of all books by Stephen King!!
This is a project that is going to take several more years for me, but I completed several blocks already and I will be sharing them with you, with the hope that you will also like to create projects with these patterns!!
The patterns are quite small (7.5'' x 5'' finished) but please feel free to enlarge them to adapt them to your needs (you can use the helpful tutorial "How To Enlarge/Reduce Patterns"). If you choose to use the book setting for the pattern, the block will measure 8.5'' x 7'' (finished).
The final layout of my own quilt will include all the patterns in a book layout and they will be assembled as a bookshelf. For the Quilt&Stitch Along, I will share the single patterns, as well as the paper piecing book layout.
I do not have a final layout for the entire bookshelf, and I don't have fabric requirements either: I haven't completed the project just yet... :)
Each block require a very minimal amount of fabric plus some embroidery floss.
If you have specific questions about any of my patterns, my contact information is included in each pattern: I will be happy to interact with you and try to help if you have questions!!
A DESIGN INVITATIONAL will be shared next week, so start thinking about patterns that you would like to make to celebrate this amazing writer!
So...
... without further ado...
Here are the books for our first bookshelf section... which (of course) had to be "The Dark Tower"!!!
- The Gunslinger
- The Drawing of the Three
- The Waste Lands
- Wizard and Glass
- The wind through the keyhole
- Wolves of the Calla
- Song of Susannah
- The Dark Tower
Until next time...
Happy sewing!!
