The volunteers here at Fandom In Stitches do our best to keep our quilting community in stitches year round!
Today, we ask you, whether you are a long time Designer or are just learning, to join us for a very special WEEKLY event where we ask YOU our community to contribute patterns to keep us all in stitches from June - August.

It's the 2014 Summer of Stitching!
Here's how it works:
- Once a week for twelve weeks, we will share a theme with you, our community, and invite you to design a pattern in that theme using any technique you like.
- All themes come from our most requested patterns and the FiS Spring 2014 Survey. Additional details will be included with each week's theme.
- Here they are, in no particular order:
- Using the themes provided each week (above), design an original pattern.
- Original = your idea, your drawing, your images. Please avoid using pre-existing art without permission.
- Finished sizes can be 5" to 10" (finished size)
- Use any technique (paper piecing, applique, embroidery, etc.).
- Test your pattern and take a photo. Only tested patterns will be included on FiS.
- Post the photo of your design to our flickr group.
- In the photo description, please include a link to your PDF pattern and rate your pattern's difficulty out of 5 (1 being the easiest, 5 the most difficult).
- If you have a Google account we recommend uploading your patterns via Google Drive. Files there can be shared and easily updated in case of errors. Nowhere to upload your pattern? Not to worry, just email it to ofenjen@fandominstitches.com and we'll take care of it for you.
- PDF patterns can be hand drawn or created using graphic design software. For more information on designing your own patterns, see Be A Designer.
- Tag your flickr photo "SOS2014" so we know it's part of the challenge.
- All designs with patterns that tagged "SOS2014" will be posted right here on Fandom In Stitches each week beginning June 11, 2014. That gives you two weeks to put together your first submission!
- As the weeks progress, you are welcome to submit ANY theme from the previous weeks to be posted on Wednesday.

When we say Sherlock Holmes, we mean ANY Sherlock Holmes, representing any era of the fandom.
Books quotes, Basil Rathbone, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jeremy Brett... the choice is yours!
