Throwback Thursday: Harry Potter Style


Welcome to the first ThrowBack Thursday here on Fandom In Stitches!

ThrowBack Thursday has become a bit of a thing in the blogosphere. We love nostalgia and thought we'd jump in with our own #TBT!

Of course, we have to do it FiS Style!

Fandom In Stitches is the lovechild of Sewhooked and Harry Potter Paper Piecing, our fandom patterns' first home. Harry Potter was the beginning of this fantastic fandom journey we're taking together, so on Thursdays we'll be featuring updated versions of the patterns that started it all!

Todays pattern was posted on Harry Potter Paper Piecing 
in 2008 with the following message:
Today's block is a bit more symbolic than most of my work. I hope you find it appropriate. 
"Avada Kedavra!" 
A jet of green light shot from the end of Snape's wand and hit Dumbledore squarely in the chest. Harry's scream of horror never left him; silent and unmoving, he was forced to watch as Dumbledore was blasted into the air: for a split second he seemed to hang suspended beneath the shining skull, and then he fell slowly backwards, like a great rag doll, over the battlements and out of sight.

    LOVE the HP blocks on here! Once I finish my current quilt I think I'll be making an entirely HP one... then a LOTR one... oh too many yummy blocks here & not enough time!! Have a great week :-)

    I have been around since those Harry Potter Paper Piecing days. I fell in love with your patterns and have been following you ever since!!! You never cease to amaze me and now with Fandom in Stitches it just takes things over the top :0)
    I am really looking forward to taking a walk down memory lane with these Throwback Thursdays :0)

    That you have! We've actually known each other since before I first started designing. You may not remember this, but you're the reason I started adding seam allowance to my patterns. I was trying to decide whether to do it or not and you said it was easier to piece, and the rest is history! :D
